India's current account gap eases to $5.2 billion
Central bank figures show India's current account deficit narrowed modestly to $5.2 billion in August, while the overall balance of payments recorded a surplus of $45.4 billion. The surplus was linked to stronger foreign currency inflows, particularly non-resident Indian deposits. Net foreign direct investment inflows also improved, reaching $3.3 billion for the month.
